Living in Charlotte and Allan’s house made me manage to realize the kind of life I want to live in – a modernly equipped house in which I can comfortably relax; a huge deck where I can sit, stroll, run or even lay down; sweet and fresh fruits waiting to be picked whenever you have a watery mouth; a gorgeous view worth going into paintings many times; a cute cat to be found and petted.  Charlotte and Allan live next door and wouldn’t bother you.  But if you gave them a chance, you’d find them kind and interesting like the old friends you wish you’d met earlier.    BTW, the cats aren’t allowed to go into the house.  But Noca is simply the cutest, sweetest and prettiest little thing we’ve ever met, carried and got along with.

This place is above and beyond what the description indicates. It has everything, plus more, and the pictures are a perfect indicator of how pristine, comfortable, and purposefully appointed everything is inside. It is also a very quiet property. It truly was a wonderful weekend! Allan made every effort to ensure our girls getaway was fun, relaxing and private. He gave us all kinds of recommendations for restaurants, wine, hiking, site seeing. He is a local and knows his stuff! So hospitable and kind, but totally respectful of your privacy. The architecture in this retreat is stunning…every little detail was accounted for, seriously! You won’t be disappointed. The color choices, linens, mattresses, towels, soap, electronics and speakers, candles, decor…all 5 star! Stellar views too. Perfect spot for a large family, two families with kids, couples retreat, or a girls or guys getaway. It will truly and comfortably sleep 8, has two large bathrooms, everything you can imagine in the kitchen. In the summer with the deck, gorgeous views, BBQ, fire pit and bocce ball and open area it would be a dream vacation for a week. We were there in the winter and it was nice and cozy by the gorgeous fireplace. We walked downtown to the LaConner boardwalk a couple of times; browsed stores, ate at yummy restaurants, and had a lovely time. We drove out to Deception Pass, park, and beaches and enjoyed the beautiful outdoors as well. This place has it all and is easy to access, quick trip from Seattle, and will exceed your expectations. We will definitely be going back!

The La Conner Benton Street Retreat is a beautiful, relaxing and comfortable place to stay. It is perfect! The view from the deck is spectacular and the property, both inside and out, is meticulously maintained. The beds were very comfortable for sleeping and the house is spacious. Allan and Charlotte were so friendly and gave very helpful information for the surrounding area. The location is ideal. It is in a charming neighborhood and is within easy walking distance to the downtown area which has shops and restaurants. I would highly recommend this property. It is the best VRBO I have ever stayed at. My brothers and I stayed at the retreat for a wedding in Anacortes, and my brothers continually commented on how perfect the house was and how kind the owners were. We were all extremely impressed! Thank you again to Allan and Charlotte. The world needs more people like you!

Took three of my staff members here for a retreat in November. The house was perfect for our meeting during the day and a good nights sleep. We didn’t cook while we were there but the kitchen was nice for snacks and hot beverages. The location was fantastic for walking to restaurants. Allan and Charlotte were fantastic hosts. I would definitely recommend this place to others.

This was our first stay in La Conner despite being Seattle natives. The house is as pretty as the photos and as well-stocked as any vacation home we’ve ever enjoyed. From coffee to towels to sheets and blankets, we didn’t miss anything from home. The views from almost every room is relaxing and private. The location is very quiet even though town is very close. The restaurants in La Conner impressed. Oyster and Thistle, which I would call a French pub, serves delicious hand-made pasta and farm-to-table fare specializing in oysters. The Nell Thorn served an awesome lunch with fresh- and hand-made everything. It has a surprisingly modern, comfortable interior. Finally, Anelias served delicious Polish food–not our go-to cuisine but everything was very yummy and I’ll go again soon. Allan was very accommodating and provided a thorough but short tour of the house and made quick recommendations around town. Highly recommend the house and the area.

We had an amazing time here! We had 3 couples spending the weekend together. The house was recently remodeled with an open concept that was both inviting and welcoming. It was well-appointed, and the mattresses were heavenly. The view from the deck over the valley was spectacular, and the distance into town was within easy walking distance. The owners live right next door and were very helpful, friendly, and responsive. We appreciated their restaurant recommendations and suggestions for nearby hiking. Can’t recommend it highly enough!

Rented the Benton Street Retreat for a family weekend. Could not have asked for a better place! The property is breathtaking, immaculate and very well laid out/spacious. They have taken the time to make sure there are all the amenities of home and then some. This was the nicest VRBO I have ever stayed in! Allan was very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back next year! Thank you for sharing this special place!

This is a perfect spot for enjoying all that the Skagit area north of Seattle has to offer. The house is in perfect condition, immaculate and well appointed. The location is up on the hill above the main street area of La Conner. A short 5 minute walk brought us to numerous restaurants and shops (and not the usual touristy places). It is an area that allowed us as much or as little activity as we wanted each day. One of the features of the house is that there are plenty of areas in and outside to sit and relax without being on top of each other. We were there with our grown daughter and bf, and also had friends come for a couple of nights. We kayaked, biked and hiked from the area. Allan, the owner, is next door and is completely available to answer questions, make suggestions etc. We felt that he was available but unless we sought him out, he left us on our own (which was perfect!). One other point is that Allan obviously put a lot of thought and care into the design of the space. The bedrooms are near each other but because of sound insulation (or something) we could not hear a thing from our bedroom….ideal! We will be returning for sure.

We had such a wonderful experience at the Benton Street Retreat. The house itself is beautifully laid out and decorated. It was extremely functional for the 8 adults who stayed at the house, with two nice big bathrooms and large guest beds. It was handy to have a partition to close off the far bedrooms, since there was a toddler staying who occasionally needed quiet for napping. Allan was such a gracious and communicative host. He made up the sofa bed ahead of time when he learned we would be using it, He also allowed us to have additional guests over to host a big family dinner, and the home is so spacious that it easily accommodated all of us. It was a dream cooking in their kitchen, which had all the tools you could possibly need. The deck and view were lovely, as were he numerous outdoor seating areas.  Thank you, Allan, for a fantastic experience!

This property was five-star in all aspects from the quality of the sheets to the bedroom layouts and enormous bathrooms! It was such a treat to have everything you need right at your fingertips. Dining and shopping was a short walk away while the house was perched on a quiet street with great views of the valley. I would highly recommend this property. The owners and caretakers were available to help with any problem (though there were none!).

Our stay at Allen’s place was amazing! Tons of beautiful natural light with an amazing view. The kitchen was super equipped and great for cooking breakfast while we were there for a Grain Conference. We loved the bocci court and Allen was kind enough to show us around when we arrived and make us feel right at home. I can’t wait to book this gorgeous house again when we go to La Connor next year!

Allan’s home is such a gem. It’s beautiful designed and appointed with everything–games, kitchen supplies, heated towel rack; it’s got more amenities than a 5-star hotel! The location is amazing–just a couple of blocks walking to most everything in La Conner. Allan had great recommendations on where to go and what to eat. We stayed with our two boys who adored having such a large lawn and bocce court and on a quiet street where they could play freely.

The Benton Street Retreat is by far the nicest place to stay in La Conner, and all of the surrounding towns. It is beautiful and inviting. The home is lovely and filled with amenities making our stay perfect. It was a short walk to the main street of La Conner – perfect for an afternoon of shopping, wine tasting and refreshments. We wish we could have stayed there forever! It is cozy and comfortable, extremely clean and well taken care of. It is evident that the owners, Allan and Charlotte, took every care with their renovations and the upkeep of the home. No detail was missed. The furnishings are comfortable and stylish. The view from the open living room and kitchen is beautiful. Preparing meals was a breeze with all of the supplies they provide. Allan was GREAT. He provided helpful information in advance of our arrival and was extremely accommodating – our group of 8 arrived at different times. He greeted the first ones to arrive with a warm welcome and some information about La Conner and their home. We took his recommendation and tried out Nell Thorn for happy hour. It did not disappoint. Delicious! The weekend went by way too quickly. None of us wanted to leave, but we all agreed we would be back. Next time for an extended stay. Thank you so much Allan! We had a wonderful time in your beautifully cared for home. We’re glad to be a part of the family now. 🙂

Our stay at Benton Street Retreat could not have been more perfect! There was more than enough room for the 4 couples who went up to celebrate a birthday, and everyone was very comfortable. The house is outfitted for entertaining and we found everything we needed to cook wonderful meals and relax. Charlotte and Allan were helpful and generous hosts, both during the weekend and before. I’d recommend the Benton Street Retreat to any and all looking for a perfect and relaxing getaway!

This was the best Airbnb experience we have had to date. The neighborhood has a lovely relaxed feel to it and the house is walking distance to the village and has a great outlook over the countryside. The house has been thoughtfully renovated and is ideal for families. We will be stealing some of their ideas for our new place. 🙂

This place is amazing. The house absolutely lives up to the photos. In addition to the house being fantastic, it’s within walking distance to everything we wanted to do in La Conner. And, the hosts couldn’t be nicer and more accommodating. They even went out of their way to return something I left behind. It was a perfect weekend.

We had a wonderful time at the Benton Street Retreat. The house fit our families very easily, and we really enjoyed the abundance of living areas, both indoor and out. It’s also really close — a short, pleasant walk — to the La Conner waterfront.

I’ve stayed in various vacation rentals over the years and never before felt that the photographs didn’t do justice to a house, but that was definitely the case here. It’s situated on a hilltop in a quaint, idyllic neighborhood. The interior is very light and airy, impeccably decorated with local art and a nice assortment of books. Just a beautiful house with gorgeous views from every single room. Extremely clean throughout, with comfortable luxury bedding and really nice bathrooms.

Charlotte and Allan were the ideal hosts, very kind and accommodating without seeming prying or overwhelming in any way. Charlotte was eager to share fresh salad greens from the yard and local organic strawberries, and yummy muffins from a neighbor. Allan was a great source of information about local activities, shops, and restaurants. He also made his bocce court and croquet set available to us, which was tons of fun for young and old alike.

I can’t say enough about the size and layout of the house; we had seven people staying there, spanning three generations, and we were very comfortable the whole time. We also accommodated about 20 people for a barbecue one evening, but with the abundance of living areas, both indoors and out, at no point did it seem crowded.

My kids really enjoyed picking and eating strawberries and other garden plants, watching (and talking to) birds, looking out over the countryside, and finding bugs out in the yard. For me, the highlight at the Benton Street Retreat was mornings on the balcony, practicing yoga or drinking coffee while listening to birds and enjoying the morning sun. It was so peaceful and relaxing. I only wish we could’ve stayed longer.
